Parents who make time for them. Even though I often had to work a full time and a part time job at the same time when my kids were young I always made time to do things with them however tired I was. These days the kids are either dumped on babysitters or stuck outside or sent to a room to play. Just as long as they are not under mom and dads feet.

Even during the years when it was really bad we always got jobs that meant we never needed a babysitter. They always had one of us to help with homework and problems.

Now I have nothing against babysitters as long as time is made for the kids at other times. Sadly that seems to be rarely the case anymore.

They also need discipline. It seems like anything and everything is okay as long as mom and dad are not having to do what they should be doing and that's being parents to the kids. I actually wonder why some people even have kids as they seem to be such an inconvenience much of the time.

A set of parents. Guidance, parents that will tell them the truth. Honesty. Teach them everything they know. Sex, & drugs. Take them downtown and show them what life can be like on the streets. Take some food & clothing and let them give it to the disavantige. Take your kids to Tiajuna, walk over the border and they will see those children that sell trinkets, and explane to them what it is to be so fortunate to be an American. And why we have to protect or freedom. That freedom is not free, and that's why we are at war now. Or boys are getting killed as we speak. It would be a great way to teach them what Life is all about.

Kids need a wonderful dog to take down to the lake for a swim and to accompany them on bike rides down country lanes and play fetch. Maybe, if each child had such a dog for a companion, less time would be spent in front of TV and Video games.

Some kids need a serious beating. NOT ALL KIDS, though. Also, kids need PARENTS these days-- not parents who act like a FRIEND.

Stricter DISCIPLINE from their wishy-washy parents.
Maybe then we wouldn't have 10 year olds murdering 3 year olds, or 14 year old rapists.

Or even the little brats that tear around unsupervised in stores & restaurats. My kids would have gotten a helluva SWAT to the butt!

A swift kick in the behind and to not be coddled because being "mean" ( being a parent) to a child will damage the child's self-esteem to the point where he or she can not function in society.

A God-fearing, well disciplined, LOVING family. They need to not have TV, Computer and video games be their parents. Mmm

Apparently, a spoon is all it takes to keep my 16 month old happy, and not hundreds of dollars spent on Fisher Price toys.
