It would not be a good idea to add a new fish. Fish are very territorial and because your fish has had its own space for 12 years i doubt very much that it would appreciate another fish in its bowl. It is true that fish like company however it is best to buy them at the same time or fairly close together anyway. The only way to find out if they get on is to try but i really would not recommend it.

What size tank do you have? If it's a big enough tank (10-20 gals per fish), you can add another. However, remember that adding another fish will put more waste into the water and you may need to do more frequent water changes. It won't upset the fish though--they don't know they've been around for 12 years without another fish. :) Goldfish get along with eachother well.

Hi there. you could add another goldfish to your tank, but you must make sure that it is of the same sex as any hanky panky could well finish off the old guy as i have know this to happen. Otherwise a new addition could well cheer him up with a new friend to knock about with. Hope this helps?

Goldfish are plenty happier in super aquariums than small ones. Ive on no account heard something approximately them enjoying companionship or being against it. they seem to be a messy fish and could grimy up the water plenty speedier than different fish. So it fairly relies upon on your area.

yes, you can add another goldfish, just make sure you quarantine him for at least a week or 2 before putting him in there, that way you won't get any diseases
Hope that helps
Good luck

Always a good idea to add a friend to any endeavor, however be aware that you may need an emergency tank if the owner of the first tank is dominate and unwilling to share. Move or add objects to the tank to move it around and not seam so familure to the original tank resident.

I would not add another fish, you would run a high chance of bringing in a disease that could kill your beloved pet.
