There is nothing on it, when you start it up it goes to command prompt, so how would I get windows on it? Is it possible for me to do it myself?

I just brought it back up top my room, and when it starts up it beeps 3 times. I do not have the manual so i do not know what the 3 beeps are for (its a dell)

You may or maynot be aware that the original operating systems were Disk Operating Systems or DOS and when they booted up you had a black screen with a flashing C/
Then you need to nkow what is commands because you are on the command line.
Depending on where and who had the computer and it's size of hard drive and Memory you will need a Systems Disk or a complete Operating System CD to Install Windows.
It may be there is nothing at all on the computer and you will be forced to go out and purchase a Windows Operating System, like XP or Vista. By the way you can't borrow a copy anymore you have to buy it.

Go to the store and but a programme. There is all diffrent kninds of CD's so ya.

put a cd drive in it then choose the cd drive as the first one to boot. insert your windows installation cd then boot it up. follow the instructions on the screen.
