Use wall anchors. It's a metal 'wing' that expands out on the other side of the wall, as the machine screw runs through it.

Of all the answers I read, they all work on non plaster walls.
If you have a plaster wall, the the plaster is probably laid over lath and chicken wire. Lath will not hold a TV. Get a stud finder, and find the nearest 2x4 stud to the location you desire and change to that new location. Forget the anchors, and use #12 x 3-1/2 or 4 inch wood screws and screw them directly into the stud. The reason for the long length is that the plaster and lath will be close to 1 inch or more thick, so the stud will be under that depth, and you need at least 2 inches of thread in the stud to hold a TV. I have 3 of those stands in my house, and they are holding well. Good luck.

You will need a stud finder to determine where the studs are. You can get a cheap one at any hardware store, walmart, home d, lowes, etc. When you find the studs, they will be approx 16" -2' apart. If you can use the studs to mount the bracket, that would be best. Even if you can use 1 stud, do that. Then for the non-stud place/s you need to mount the bracket, use a wall anchor. Get a good one rated for at least 30 pounds. They can also be found at the above mentioned stores. I always drill a pilot hole, small hole before screwing the anchor into the wall with a phillips screwdriver. FYI, an anchor cannot be used on a stud. You can find more info online about all the above if not sure of my directions.

The answer is simple really - just use a bigger wall plug and screw.
When I'm hanging radiators I use a 10mm wall plug and size 10 screw x 50mm. Haven't had one fall off yet.

You require a expansion bolt there are many types and makes on the market, just ask at your local DIY store, oh make sure the bolts go into solid concrete or brick not a joint.

drill a 7mm hole aproxx 2inches deep and insert a brown rawplug, use a size 12 2inch screw for each hole and this will hold.
8mm is too big for a rawplug.
