Forget the internet, forget the yellow pages. Ask your neighbors for a referral. Some moving companies will lowball the price, then hold your property for ransom until you pay twice as much as they initially told you.
If it's an apartment, you might consider hiring a truck yourself, and going to a temporary agency and hiring some folks to do the move under your direct supervision.
