I personally completely prefer WOW, except for the fact that there are no monthly fees with Guild Wars. Of course, tons of people would argue that GW is better lol. I guess it is all opinion.

I personally prefer Guild Wars over WoW. If you like the grinding in WoW, you can do it in Guild Wars too, it's just that you won't level up after level 20 but gain skill points instead. The pvp is also a lot better because of the different varieties you can choose from. You also have primary and secondary professions so you can be warrior/ranger or a elementalist/monk. I know I'll get a lot of yelling at me from WoW players but the Guild Wars community is also a lot nicer and not as egotistical as WoW. All in all, I think he will enjoy it.

They are in some respects polar opposites of the MMORPG world. Guild Wars by design is supposed to be a casual online game. It is not as persistent as WoW and was meant to be a game you can pick up and play whenever you want. Because there are no monthly fees there is no obligation to make a daily grind. If you don't have time for a couple months, so be it, don't play and you aren't out anything. I personally love being able to just pick it up and play it whenever I want instead of having to worry about if i feel i got my month's worth out of it. As much as this might sound silly for an MMO, it is much easier to play lone wolf on Guild Wars as you can recruit computer controlled characters into your party if you don't want to play with real people. Personally I love this too as I'm not much of a social player but love the large areas and content available to me. I don't know about the sheer scale of the game but on Guild Wars I have a few hundred hours in and have only seen what my stats say is 13% of the map.

It sounds like you had to stop playing due to lack of time. For this reason, I would highly recommend Guild Wars, since, when compared to WoW, it will take up much less of your time; the top level is 20, and the game is entirely focused on quests, fighting, and guild formation.

Both Wow and GW are good games. A lot of folks will tell you that GW sucks and WoW is much much better, but there are also a lot of folks that say WoW sucks and GW is much much better.
GW doesn't have as many features as WoW, but it also doesn't have a monthly fee and the grind. Even if you can only devote a few hours a week to the game, you can still be a competitive player.

Guild Wars is being developed by ArenaNet, a subsidiary of NCsoft. Rather than have a continuous beta ArenaNet hold Beta weekends, where pre-ordered players and invited friends are allowed to test the game. This weekend was one such event and I was lucky enough to be invited along.
I hope the site can help u
