Roger Staubach because he was the best QB period! He didn't run as much as some of the others because he missed five years in Vietnam, and was older by the time he got into the league. But when he did run, it always meant something! He led a comeback with his legs against the Steelers in the Super Bowl when he was 38 years old! I would like to see any other QB do that!

Fran Tarkenton. He was undersized. He didn't have a great arm. He went injury free until his 16th year and he was always running around. He's not only my favorite running QB in NFL history, he put up some great passing numbers. A QB who couldn't do anything else but run was Bobby Douglass. I think he was the first to run for 1000 yards in a season. Since he couldn't pass, he didn't last very long. For pure athletic talent, you'd have to go with former NFL player Ron Mexico. However, we're not going to see him for awhile...

I'm not so sure about Vick. He can run, but he can't pass for crap. He has...err had one or two good games a year and everyone calls him a great passer. The only electrifying thing he did happened to animals, so he doesn't get my vote.
I like steve Young on this one. A close second would be Randall Cunningham.
I can't comment on Fran Tarkanton as he was before my time.

Mike Vick is the best running QB in the history of the NFL period. He set a rushing record for the QB position a couple years ago. He simply the best athlete QB in the history of the NFL, a dazzling player if he break from the pocket, he make exciting play with his legs. Best running QB ever, but average QB overall.

Mike Vick is the best running QB ever and probably ever be, as far as running anyway. But the best scrambling QB, it's gotta be John Elway.

Fran Tarkenton by far. Scratch that i would go with Steve Young when looking at stats. Steve had 4200 rushing yards and 43 TDs. Randall Cunningham would be a close second with 4900 yds and 35 TDs. I would say either of those two could be tops. Fran only had 3600yds rushing with 32 TDs.

It's not Vick because he never was a QB. He was a runningback taking snaps. Steve Young or Randall Cunningham were the two best. If you are talking about GREAT QB's, then Roger Staubach and Steve Young.

Gotta go with cunningham on this one. He could pass as well as throw. He was more of a totall package than Vick was.
