Probably not as popular overall because this generation doesn't know him that well. Young people today know Chris Rock, Katt Williams, etc., and Eddie Murphy is the guy who was in Nutty Professor and Haunted House, you know? Norbit helped, and Raw is on TV some, but still.

I liked some of his standup routines, but today he's mostly known for his movies aimed at kids. He'd probably have to clean it up a bit, so he wouldn't have that edge anymore.

i think if he was to return to his roots in stand-up..his movie career would be over in terms of his family films which is all he does now..its a double edge sword for him i loved all his standup but like alot of parents the grew up with him we now take our kids to see his movies
