I have a macbook pro and i need more space on it to put music etc. without it slowing down. It already has 60GB or 80GB on it, how do you add more? If i were to go into a computer store/mac store and ask them, what do they call this? More memory? More hard drive space? help!

Simply you ask for a new hard disk drive with more storage or you can exchange you current hard drive with a new and upgraded version (if the store allows it, most of them do that anyway), the Memory (RAM) is mostly associated with system performance issues not with storage so you should go for the Hard Disk Drive but if you want more system speed you can upgrade the RAM as well.

Space to store files like music, movies, documents etc. is called hard disk space. For a desktop machine, you can usually just add another hard drive. For a laptop there isn't room inside the case for a 2nd drive, so you need to buy a larger hard drive, and have the computer store transfer everything over from the old one.... Your original drive will be removed and becomes a spare.

RAM is a different thing altogether- that determines how many programs you can have running at one time, and how fast some more demanding programs (like Photoshop) will run.

You'd need more hard drive space. Best bet would be an external hard drive if you're not versed with formatting and installing operating systems. Then you can move all your photos tunes movies etc onto your external, If you move your itunes make sure you tell itunes where the new location is:

Look at the reviews for any drives that meet your fancy and see how those who bought it like or dislike it.

Unlike the MacBook, the MacBook Pro's hard drive cannot be user replaced under warranty. (in other words you lose your warranty if you try this yourself).

Go through the store where you bought it or contact Apple. Or what about using an external hard drive through a USB port?
