The Anglian BS was taken over by Nationwide in 1987. Go to one of their branches with as much ID as possible and let them look for it.

If you contact the building society direct, they should be able to confirm the account.

You will need to provide as much information possible, including proof of your name, your address when the account was opened, who opened it for you. The society may ask for more information and ask how you know that you have the account (who told you and when, or is it just family hearsay).

You will find that it will take a long time and a lot of to-ing and fro-ing. Alternatively, there are companies that look for lost/unclaimed money who have more efficient ways of dealing with the banks and building societies.

Good luck, hope it's worth a lot!

Contact the BSA (building society association)
They have a service to track down lost accounts. All you need initially is your full name and date of birth.

Hi, Go to the Building Society, they should still have records of your account.

Get onto the branch of the society you know it was with and they should be able to trace it back for you. Give them as much detail about yourself as you can - date of birth, full name, year account could have been opened and your address at that time.
