The fact that he called you means that he really doesn't want to die, but is reaching out for a reason to live. Help to give him that reason to live! Be a good friend. If you don't have the words to help him, encourage him to contact a hotline where a psychologist or other trained person can help. Introduce him to people that have been through similar experiences and survived. Hopefully these things will make him see that life is worth living.

Dont' wait for him to call you again!! If you are his friend, then you should be calling him! The more he's left alone to stew about his problems...the worse he will feel. I agree with the other person about "people have way bigger problems", but when someone is depressed....they can't help these feelings. I live with this constantly with my dad and he can't see or doesn't care that his problems are small....to him they are the biggest problems ever!!! He can't see that he suffers from depression and makes everyone around him miserable because of his constant complaining! But....I can't dump him and wouldn't! He needs me! Sorry didn't mean to go off into another world there, just trying to get you to see that you can't just leave him alone....he's your friend and doesn't really have anyone else to talk to right now. What about teen-touch phone number? Does anyone know that? Maybe that would help him too!

Ken perhaps you need to speak with whichever parent he is living with and inform them of your friends mental health at the current time. He might not realize that everything happens for a reason and that although his world feels like it's falling apart at present that things will get better. Also if you have a kids helpline in your area suggest that he call it and speak with a counselor there when he is feeling messed up. Support him and if necessary inform your school guidance counselor and have him keep his eyes open for signs of depression etc. exhibited by your friend. You might even want to escort your friend to the hospital so he can speak with a psychologist there and discuss what he is feeling at present. Sounds like your a good friend and are only trying to help your friend so keep up the good work.

Tell him tomorrow is another day. Nothing stays the same. What looks bad today, may not be that way tomorrow. He is reaching out to you for help. Ask him how you can help him. Maybe suggest the counselor at school, or just telling him how upset you and so many people would be to lose him. Assure him that you want to be there for him in any way you can.

Tell him that killing oneself isn't the answer... life is a gift from God and it would go against one of the cardinal rules... let him know you're there for him if he neeeds you, and suggest he get counseling. This is serious. So many teenagers throwing away their lives because of a little stress. Only the strong survive. Good luck, hope he listens.

Tell him that he hasnt lived his life at all yet. He would be a doofus if he killed himself. Age 15 is rarly living life and he needs to live life longer. I am age 15 as well and my parents have problems sometimes, i dont have a boyfriend and my grades suck. You dont see me going around saying i will kill myself. It would be a stupid choice but then again it is his choice as well.

i think u should try and calm him down by making him happy like tell him things he would like, and cheer him up. maybe take him out for some fun if u can but whatever u do do not mention the things that upset him.

Be there for him. Talk to him and gently tell him that it would be good to talk to a professional. He may be feeling somewhat overwhelmed and ill-equipped to deal with things going wrong one by one.
