I just got a new Hi Fi.

Pioneer PD-D6 SACD player
Pioneer A-A6 Amplifier

I am using old AE Aegis 1 speakers with Mit MITERMINATOR 6 speaker cables and UK Connections interconnectors.

I feel that the speakers are the weak link.

What speakers would fit the Amp and CD players best?

I listen to Jazz like Ella and Diana Krall.

I like to have a flat respond speaker and bookself or small floorstanders.

Best it has no port as have small room with bare walls and placement will be near to side and back walls(necessery for my Yamaha YSP 800)

Hi there.Seems like you have a pretty good Amplifier going by some of the comments i read.Ok now as to the power requirements for new speakers.it says the Amp. can deliver 45 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 60 watts per channel into 4 ohms. As there are not to many 4 ohm speakers about then we are looking for speakers with a minimum reqiurement of 45 watts into 8 ohms.I think loudspeakers with a high sensitivity would be best as they would sound louder with less amplifier power than ones with a lower rating.

Now the other thing to consider is your personal preferrence of the type of sound you like.Because all makes of loudspeakers add their own "sound"(coloration) to the sound they are trying to reproduce they all sound different.Basically you can divide them into 3 catagories .First there are speakers that have a rather bright sound which after awhile may become irratating.Next we have speakers that favour the mid-range frequencies.that project voices and singing out in front of the speaker. Some people prefer this type of sound if they listen to a lot of vocal musical. The last type of loudspeaker does not favour any part of the frequency range. The treble, mid, and bass are produced in equal amounts. These speakers are known as "neutral sounding"speakers and are preferred by audiophile and music lovers above all the rest. This last lot of speakers are usually more expensive than the other types as it is always difficult to get a flat response from a speaker. So if you can tell me what type of speaker sound you like we will see what is available,ok? Do you want to keep the speaker cables and interconnects you are using at the moment ?
