Our business is switching to Verizon (had Nextel, but since Sprint has taken over the service has gone down hill) and I am intereted in getting a ringback tone on my phone. The problem is, I have heard conflicting information about the price of ringback tones. Is it $1.99 per year OR .99c per month? That is a big difference to me! Thank you.

Ok here's the scoop....

You pay $1.99 for each ringback tone which enables you to have this tone for 1 year. And you pay .99 cents a month to keep the tones. Notice I said tones. You can have 20 ringback tones but your monthly bill is .99 a month this is for the service of utilize the ringback tones it is not the cost of the tone itself, that would be $1.99 for 1 years use for each tone.

For instance, I decide I want 5 different ringback tones at $1.99 each. I buy them right now and never buy another ringback tone for let's say the rest of the year. My total cost for my transaction is $9.95 that will be on my next statement and I have use of those tones for 1 year (it ringback tone purchase will show up on the bill as an individual transaction & lists the tone you purchased - in otherwords it's itemized.). But my monthly bill to utilize the ring back tone service will be billed at .99 cents a month so even if you don't purchase anymore ringback tones for 6 months you will see one charge a month for .99 cents which is basically a service fee to utilize the service no matter how many ringback tones you have purchased. I think I have about 30 ringback tones.

Now, you will receive a text message (you will not be charged for it as it is from Verizon) 14 days before your ringback tone expires notifying you of the upcoming expiration. You can choose to renew or not bother and find another that you like. Also with the ringback tones you can create a "jukebox" which allows you to have 15 ringback tones play continuously so your callers hear various tones when they call. I have a Christmas jukebox that I use every year (and I even have Alvin & the Chipmunks on it!!). You can also put a certain ringback tone to a certain phone number so that is all the person hears when they call. For instances, my mother loves Fur Elise by Beethoven so that's her individual ringback tone.

So to recap:

Ringback tones cost $1.99 each & you get to use it for 1 year. Monthly charge for the service is .99 a month.

Hope this helps clear things up. If not, you can email me through yahoo answers!

Good luck!

$1.99/year per ringback tone...can be purchased from your phone through GET IT NOW or from the Verizon Wireless web site. On the web site you can assign ringback tones to individual callers in your address book or even create individual jukeboxes for each person in your address book that you specify, and also for non caller ID numbers.
