go into device manager and disable the drive from there. if it's an older machine, and you're comfortable with looking inside, shut the pc down, remove the pwr cord from the pc, and just do the same with the floppy drive. the pwr for that is the one with red, black and yellow wires on it, a smaller version of the ones you'll see going to the hard drive and any other devices -cd rom, tape back up, other drives- powered by the pc itself. these two steps will halt the annoyance. i would however first copy any required files from these floppies onto the hard drive and burn to a cd before doing this.

there r some virus which makes the floppy drrive do that, so check with a good antivirus.
second main reason is dust on the sensor of the floppy drive use a cleaning disk.
last the floppy drive is damaged or floppy cable is gone bad, u might have to change it.

The floppy drive have a problem between the connection to the computer. Change a new one. If still the same, reinstall (format the drive) windows.

maybe your floppy drive is dirty, that makes the sensor turn on to read floppy disk, if you are not using this. disable the floppy disk controllers.
right click "My computer", select "manage", it will appear the "Computer Management" dialog box.
Select "device manager" under system tools, then right click the "standard floppy disk controller" and select "disable".
You can enable this in the same way...

that is normal it is set to check the floppy drive on boot up, you can stop it doing that through the bios by setting it to disable seek floppy at boot up

It is possible there is one in there, It can get stuck sometimes by the label.
I have had drives com in and children have jammed two in.

possably some one running a remote scan on the computer
boot to safe mode (f8 at startup) and run virs and spyware scann

my computer who i call SIR does the same thing and no it can't be stopped you have to get a newer computer and that is all you can do.
