Don't universally disregard all online education in any field. I understand that Stanford University is very highly regarded in the field of engineering and they do indeed offer courses online.
Stanford University even offers some master's degrees online.

When people say that no reputable school offers viable programs online - they simply haven't looked around lately at the reality of higher education.
Does anyone writing here at Yahoo Answers want to argue whether Stanford University is a good school for engineers?
Don't expect the courses to be easy just because they are online. It's 2007 and not 1981; this is how higher education is delivered now.

Online course for is definitely a bad option. Certain courses have to be pursued only fulltime. The worth of obtaining a B.Tech degree lies only after you have undergone a strenuous course curriculum with theory and practical classes.

Bad idea.
Hardly any college gives BS (engineering) degree online without attending a class at the campus. Those are bogus degrees and not recognized by AAU (Association of American Universities), or ABET. In India such prgrams are not recognized by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education).
You can not get a job or go for higher studies with such degree. It is only useful for some self-employed person who wants a degree for a name-sake.

Make sure the online university you choose is an accredited college or you will be wasting your time. I don't get all warm and fuzzy hearing about a foreign university. Be careful and Good Luck

i think that it does not matter where you get your degree as long as you have one and that you know what you are doing when you go for the job or to your interview because my sister is taking a on-line thing and she called around to find out the same thing that you are asking and they told her the same thing that i am telling you so where ever you live try to call around and just ask and see what they say
