Ok my car was running fine. I got to work and as i was parking it the battery light came on and the windows went up very slowly. I turned the car off and tried turning it on again. It didn't work. I let the car sit there for a little and tried restarting it, and it worked. I then turned it off and went to work. When I left the car started fine. I was driving home and the battery light came on. The lights and radio went out and then the power stearing went. A few seconds later the car died. I was able to push it to the curb and i tried starting it again, but it didn't work. It's a '99 mazda 626 6 cylinder. Is the battery just dead? Please help it is the only car I have at the time and i need it.

Battery was probably ok the first time it went dead. Sounds like the charging system needs checking out. Your alternator brushes have worn down or a internal alternator problem. I used to work for mazda and cannot remember if the brush regulator pack is changeable on that car. Sounds like recharge the battery drive over to the auto supply and have it tested in the car or remove the alternator and have Auto Supply test it. Check the 80 to 120 amp main fuse to see if it is still ok. If you cannot remember when the battery was new buy one now so the new alternator will charge a good battery.

First wiggle your battery cables where they are attached to the battery. Can they move? If so tighten them, If you can't tighten them take a screw and put it in between the post and the clamp, this will give you a secure passage for current.

I think that is it. cause you were able to start it again after losing power in windows. Otherwise it may be your voltage regulator. Follow the red battery wire to a little round object on the side of your vehicle it is about 2 inches long and 1 and a half inchs in diameter. That is your voltage regulator.

If this don't work. email me I'll try to help you some more.

The battery is dead buy probably because the alternator has problems. Charge the battery and drive it to Pep Boys, Auto Zone or one of the other parts stores. They can test all the components of the charging system for free.

Sounds like the alternator is going bad, also make sure the fan belt on the alternator is real tight. The alternator isnt slipping.
