This is urgent for a school project. Why? For example Dem. Congo. The population is growing by aprox. 3.39%. Birth rate is 42.9 but death is 10.34. Then it says it's full of poverty etc. So why is the population growing?? Won't babies die if the place isn't fit enough for child birth? I don't get it!!! AND I AM GETTING VERY ANNOYED.

The first reason is their illiteracy.Due to that ,they dont know how to avoid pregnancy(they can not afford to do that sometimes) and plan their family according to their income. Some people even think that the God is giving them the children and they shoud not do anything against God's wish.Secondly, they can not afford to have other entertainments(they do not have time also)except sex.Thirdly, their children are immune(which they inherit from thier parents) to some small diseases as they are living in a bad environmental conditions and are used to it.Only major diseases kill them and their children.Even childbirth is easy for them as they work hard.

Population is accellerated in places that have a lower educational standard. Country Star Loretta Lynn had no idea what was causing her first few babies, and she lived in America (but in a poor region)

You're looking at statistics that can be skewed by whatever the 'researchers' want them to look at.

Birth rate might be 42.9, death rate 10.34.. BUT,, then you must ask if that death rate is after you count kids born that live more than a month? Maybe they don't count kids that live more than a year.

Go and Google for more statistics for the Congo. You will be able to make a more informed report on whatever it is you have to make a report on.

Better health care provided by western nations as far as disease prevention has kept people that would have normally died off alive. The people don't bother practicing birth control. These are the two leading factors for the population spike. Also, even though AIDS has become an epidemic, the new drugs that are being widely distributed are keeping people alive longer also. Thanks Bono. Diseases are there for a reason. Now instead of an AIDS epidemic, the world has a bunch of starving babies and children on it's hands.

There are many reasons for such phenomenon to cite a few: 1. Migration 2. Outsourcing 3. Cheap labor 4. Big Growth Possibility People from rural areas of a poor country tends to migrate to the cities to find job. And because the labor in the first world countries are extremely expensive, multi-national companies tends to outsoure some of its required services or even tranfer thier factories or headquarters to countries like India, China and the Philippines for cheap labor, greater growth possibility and ofcourse bigger profit. And such demand for labor stimulates migration to cities, making exponential growth both in population and economy.

The division between population growth has to do with education. When the population thinks on these lines of, " pen of importance" meaning the word and what can be accomplished through it's use, then growth in other areas can be accomplished, but when there are no schools and learners of the word, then they are left to focus on the other dividing line of thought, which is the" penis of importance", and there will be growth in the population, and so, it would be wise not to place such importance on the penis if growth in other areas are needed. There is a time for each importance to grow, and building a secure and safe environment for the community should be the good purpose of the pen of importance.

Well the history of Dem. Congo it's latest incarnation is soaked in blood. It's a region rich in resources, like copper, materials to make rubber, diamonds etc. It has a history of brutal takeovers like that of Mobuto Sese Seko, he enslaved his people forced them to dig in the diamond mines and drove the country into economic ruin because he was keeping the profits for himself. As far as uncontrolled population growth is concerned it's not as though they can go down to the local drug store and buy condoms, birth control is limited severly in that area. Have you done any research on the question for yourself besides asking Yahoo? Good luck with your project

In agriculture based economies, the culture encourages breeding farm hands. In industrialized societies, so much labor is not necessary. In an agricultural society making babies is an economic asset for the families "every hungry mouth comes with two working hands".

In industrialized societies, children must be educated more before entering the work force, and are therefore a bigger economic strain. This encourages people to have smaller families.

Why are you asking this in the "Science and Mathematics, GEOGRAPHY" string? This is not the right place to ask this question if you want any real answers. People ask questions in the wrong areas and then complain that nobody answers their questions... so it's everyone elses fault becuse THEY don't know where to place THEIR questions.

There is a population explosion Because poor people don't have TV sets to watch in bed at night... so what do YOU think they do instead... they don't stop to think about how the child will live... they are only interested in the 'fun' part of having children.

Listen to David S and Lunchtime Browser. They are right.
The lack of education has something to do with it too, but not to the same extent. Even though they don't have book smarts, they know how babies are made. It has a lot to do with the lack of protection, which is why STDs are so rampant.

They r not educated and that is the main concern and the first reason for them to be poor. They dont know what lies tomorro. They live the life in the present. They dont know A or B about intercourse. They just do it like animals. For the heck of it. They need proper education about sex and its results. Only then the issue can be controlled but cannot be stopped.
