In my case ... no. I am not ashamed of my intellect and even my boss admits I have a high IQ.

I will (respectfully) correct the company's owner when he makes errors and it has been known for the owner, manager, and deputy manager to defer to me when they're not sure about something.

"I will (respectfully) correct the company's owner when he makes errors"...
I remember correcting my teacher's spelling on the blackboard when I was 7 - she hated me that whole year lol.
I would say it depends who I'm with - I enjoy being with people I can have an intelligent conversation with and in that case, I won't hide it. But sometimes I think it can be off-putting, so if I'm with someone who wouldn't understand, I will try to hide it a bit. I know that sounds really patronising, but that's the way it is.

I am pretty intelligent but I give the impression that I'm average.I do correct people sometimes but don't want to seem condescending and come across as a know it all so I dumb it down a little. That sounds wrong when I read it back.Ah well!

People can be, or seem to be, naive and be very intelligent. Part of their naivety (and I include myself) comes from treating the world as a place where being very intelligent brings the most rewards. Unfortunately, the world being mostly composed of average people, it only brings certain rewards in certain circumstances. It can mostly be a burden. That is the world's fault, not the intelligent person's.

I think I let it slip. I can on the other hand be as dumb as they come.

Intelligence is one of the things in life that actually doesn't completely define a person for me. There are a fair few people that I respect and love, who are just unable to do the bright stuff. I think they are intelligent in other ways.

Not really...although I sometimes wish I was more challenged by the work I do. I guess that's better than being in over your head, though. For me a good vocabulary is fundamental to keeping your intellectual chops honed.

There's different kinds of intelligence, and it's not always the ones who pin their colours to the mast that win in the end.
