Anything absolute is no good in life. A mix of socialism and capitalism would be needed. Both systems have obvious failures as well as merits.
And anyway, it depends what the target if your question is. If it is wealth and progress, then naturally it will be capitalism. However, if it's fairness and equity, socialism would perhaps be more effective.

Kennysian captialism with mixed economy where the goverment stimulates the econony during downtides in the economic cycle. Some like supply side economics it works fine, but it does not really make a difference, which economic stimulas a country uses, along as prices of inputs and outputs are determined by the market forces. Social captialism like former West Germany works, but not Hugos Chavez socialism brand because markets should determine prices for goods and services, and the use of taxation is better way to distrube resouces more fairly. Yet, the American system works well too people own more cars, bigger houses, air conditing, computers than most countries in the world. The poor in America have double the square footage of living space than the wealthy person in Europe does, but America get sick there bankrupted without healthinsurance. There plus and minus with each economic system.

Each has their moment and need.

A world given exclusively to one or the other would quickly become unlivable in one way or another. During the great depression, socialism helped a nation pull itself together. In tinmesof true freedom, capitalism helps propel us forward. In modern China, socialism paved the way toward the hybrid capitalism they now employ.

Sadly, neither system holds sway currently, here in the US. We have a kind of collusive condition, which is turning out to be a bloody horror of corporate run pseudo-capitalism. Looks like the real thing until you notice that the corporations are in the government, redistributing tax wealth into their own coffers.

Socialism is soon to be direly needed during the next depression, which, as Ronald Reagan once warned, "Will make the last one look like a pic-nic."

Capitalism because it can make better use of information. Socialism requires decision makers to have access to all information both public and private. Capitalism permits people to discover the best choices, socialism requires planners to plan what is best.

Capitalism is the psychology of imagining that employers are beneficial parent figures, instead of possible criminals practicing deception. Therefore, voting at work in order to control the property you are paying for isn't needed.

EDIT: "oliver", extra capability to ya. regardless of the undeniable fact that, we yanks don't think in ANY variety of socialism. We refuse to permit the authorities intrude in our lives in any way shape or variety. They artwork for US we don't artwork for THEM. that's in regards to the main important reason we got here to visit right here approximately 3 hundred years in the past replaced into by using intense taxation and misrepresentation variety the british authorities. that's why we spilled our blood to get faraway from the very motives obama is attempting to tension upon us as quickly as back from an oppressive authorities.
