During work, mine walks about 100 feet. He drives. For those who do walk, it depends mostly on the length of their shift. Lacking statistics, I'd guess an average of about 4 hours at around 4 miles per hour. Allowing time for stops, that'd probably run around 10-12 miles. I think longer shifts are rare because people don't want to wait long for their mail.
