I recently went up to my bf attic and found lots of rolls of brand new fabric, it is all wrapped up in plastic and I am sure someone who knows a lot about fabric could make good use out of it! Problem is I don't know anything about the stuff. Where can you sell fabric rolls? does any shops buy it from the public? anybody know a shop in edinburgh that might buy rolls of fabric? any advice will be gladly accepted. Thanks.

Mmm, that kind of thing sounds like a wet dream to me! *loves found fabrics*

What sort of material is it? You could try and sell it on eBay! If it's cotton/polycotton mix you could cut it up into fat quarters and sell it to quilters...

Otherwise - car boot sale? Loot?

Is it furnishing or fashion fabric? The size of design and density of fabric will tell you. How old is it? There could be some vintage rolls in there (or 'bolts' as we call them).

If you can take nice clear photos of the patterns and get the details from the edge ( usually there's a white edge with printers' details and colours & name of pattern), you could advertize them on a free website (classifieds) or ebay. If that's too much hassle, get someone to help you take them to a nearby market, find a stall selling fabrics and offer them at a good price. They'll be happy, but you might need to give them a receipt of sorts.

Yes, Ebay is a good idea, but you could end up selling it for way less than it's worth. Try some vintage clothing stores, they'd be more than happy to buy it and would pay a better price. Use E-bay as a last resort.

You could sell it on craigslist. You'll do better with local people rather than trying to package it up and shipping.

But it really is cruel to all us quilters to tell us about that treasure trove!
