I love stories.
The main points only scratch the surface - I like to have the blanks filled in for me. It's the details I find more intriguing.
A way a person relates a story is also fascinating, their responses to the situation their retelling and the significance they found in the story all come into play for me.
Even on this site it is the longer answers I appreciate, people with a story to tell are far more interesting to me!

To me every story has a main point. Who wants a story without a point? They just go together. So, I like both.

Sometimes I like stories only if the story is interesting. Other times I like to get to the point.

Well, there are times when I do love to hear the whole story behind something that happened.
There are times though, when getting to the heart of the matter without undue embellishment is needed.
Sometimes when people "go around the block to cross the street" it can get very annoying. I also tend to think they may be covering something up.
Direct approach is always best.

It all depends on how they talk. If they have an annoying high pitched voice get to the point and stop talking. The same if they talk in a monotone. Every thing else in a story.

Main points... I guess I an more of a math and science person... AND... although the stories are interesting, many tell them in such an uninteresting manner...

I like people that get to the point unless the story is truly funny or exciting.
