Thanks for the hug Amye.
An atheist can go to church everyday and still be an atheist (if the person picks a bible believing and preaching church, there would be hope).

Jesus is the only way to salvation:
Eph 2:8-9
1 & 2 Tim
Acts 2:21
John 3:15-21
Romans (1,3,6,10)

We ARE the church.... not that any church teaches it, but that's what the Word says. Also, "the Kingdom of Heaven is within you", according to Jesus Christ. Many churches do not like this teaching (how many times have you ever heard it in a sermon?).

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than putting your hand in a cookie jar turns it into a cookie. Finally, dear Amye, who am I to judge who's going to heaven? We know that the most merciful one of all - Jesus Christ - is our judge... thankfully, he was merciful enough to take ALL sins unto Himself.

Have a wonderful Sunday. :-) bbjo

Christianity Today notes that for years, Gallup pollsters have reported that 40 percent of Americans -- roughly 118 million people -- attend a church every Sunday. But a new study done by an Episcopal Church researcher, Kirk Hadaway, and Penny Marler of Samford University concludes the actual number is much less than that.

They did a "count-based" estimate of church attendance -- in other words, actual attendance figures -- and concluded that only about 20 percent of Americans go to a church on Sunday.

in my opinion, those who don't go to church are no more likely to go to hell than the chruch goers that will go to heaven. reasoning, many believers work or are too ill to attend services while many non-believers go for face value and to look good in front of others.

There are 168 hours in a week. If someone spends 1 hour on Sunday in church and 167 hours per week being an evil, cruel person they will never see the gates of heaven.

Someone who is a kind, generous and good natured person who does not go to church is more likely to go to heaven.

Sweeti-pie, I love you to pieces, but this is not a thing I give a whole heck of a lot of thought to...A looong time ago I decided that people go to church for any number if reasons, worship NOT being the foremost among them. Whether or not ANYone gets into heaven is not, in my opinion, based on regular church-going. I think it all comes down to how we treat one another, day to day.

It is not so much the physical presence in church, but how a person leads their life based upon the religion they are a member of. It is not for me to ponder if they will go to heaven...only they can answer that through good deeds.

I don't have any idea of the %. I just know I went to church for many, many years & I don't go anymore. I love the Lord, & try to live right. For me, I'm much happier & at peace at home instead. I don't think going to church is a ticket to heaven, no.

50% maybe. Going to church is not a sure ticket to Heaven. It's not by works that we get there. It is by repentance and the grace of God.

Probably less than 25%! That is not up to me to figure out if they will go to Heaven! As long as know I am !
We get to heaven by giving our life over to Christ!
