I was sitting after finshing my assessment exams in my college , then I found a "Monquaba" collaegue approaching me and told me that she is collecting money to buy (Niquabs and KHimars) for girls !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked her what about those who can't earn their living don't they deserve this money
she told me
محدش بيموت من الجوع!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and she told me that they r doing this in Ramadan annualy gathering food
Ramdan is a month what about the other 11 months?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do they think? Is the problem with Egypt now that girls can't wear the Niquab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what about buying some uniform and books to the poor going to the schools , i sear i see some going nearly bare footed , what about those who jumb in the trash bins to find something to eat?
when i told her that she told me that nerve provoking sentence

Zoser i am in the last year in the faculty of medcine and still i found girls with me who will once be doctors stand by the female circumcision , though we studied its hazards and even the doctors shifted the term circumcision with the term" Female Genital Mutilation"
I am wondering if they held the Egyptian presidency or higher responsabilities what would they do to us?
My English isn't that good , but i have more and more to say

Moonrise , I am disgusted too of this phenomena , but i am discussing another issue , as a Muslim woman she would gave the priority collected to feed the poor or educate them , not to buy the niquabs for the poor girls!

Facts:
Egypt : Income : earning : 43.9 % of the population less than $2/day and 3.1%of the population less than
$1 a day

Age structure: 0-14 years: 32.6% (male 13,172,641/female 12,548,346)
15-64 years: 62.9% (male 25,102,754/female 24,519,698)

Literacy: definition: age 15 and over can read and write
total population: 57.7%
male: 68.3%
female: 46.9% (2003 est.)

Well your question contains two subjects:
1) Why Egyptians are so in deep, and occupied a lot in subjects related to woman and sex? It is very easy to answer:

a) Age: Most of the Egyptians are young, more than half of the Egyptians are under 21/25, this is the favorite subject to be discussed and noticed among people in that age

b) Literacy: it is very well known that the minimum education one has; is religions and language, if u do not have any other cultures, you are able still to discuss those ,it is called the skin’s culture, (if you are naked from any other cultures , you still have your skin )

c) Media and encouragement : Sadat started that to fight the communist current once was spreaded in the society, then what is better: youth discuss that major problem to them , or discuss their future and conditions which are not clear. What is better: your classmates discussing that or discussing politics?

d) Illusion: we always escape to the unknown, all our life we learnt in History how great the Islamic empire was , and people are not really happy now, so they are hoping that their conditions will be changed , once we are back to what they think existed,, they never thought that: although the empire reached china , people as individuals were not living that great, actually it happened in Egypt that people ate each other (seriously ate each others) The Refa3i mosque was built in 20 years and they could not even finish it because of poverty, / relativeto moral : Haron Alrasheed’s name is used as a name of bars, he had 100’s of female slaves, and was very famous of (messing around)..when Napoleon reached Egypt , He found that according to the number of the female slaves Morad bac had, He needed (morad bac) two years to meet the first female he started with ,, hahahah
They want to repeat history , although they do not really know it

e)They say that Money carries the smell of its source, lots of Egyptians traveled to the Gulf brought money together with their customs and habits (actually even the Gulf started to change that)..Lots of money was spent also to manipulate people minds, (I always wondered what 'Adam' real job is, how he earns living, ,Do we need preaching from outside, why he preachs Muslims about Islam , why does not he preach non Muslims, do not we have enough educated preachers…I do not really care)

***Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a pattern of excessive emotionality and attention-seeking, including an excessive need for approval and inappropriate seductiveness,Lots of Young egyptians are having lots of personality disorder types , that is one of them:well life is not easy ;;

If a person's culture is from Miky Gab // hardly reading newspapers (well they are roping sandwiches even without reading them) ,, what subjects will be used to satisfy this disorder than Al haram and al halall,
What the current dominated culture is now in the society, more than Hanan Turk 's veil

Well Isadora, its part of our cultural decline, I was speaking with my mother about this issue a few days ago when she "again" raised the issue of Hijab as if it was our only remaining problem in Egypt... and that every thing beside that can just be neglected. Not that I have anything against Hijab, its a religious personal choice at the end of the day and shouldn't pre occupy us to this extent.

I guess it is part of what I have called our superficial lives, we have become obsessed with appearances (Mazhar) and forgot the core of the issues (Gawhar) which are far more important.

Edit to Isadora: I just wanted to make it clear that even with hijab which is considered a Fard people are taking things too far... I haven't seen people so preoccupied for example about people who do not pray, or do not fast, or do not give Zakkah. Never have I seen people collecting money for such causes all though they lie in the heart of our religion more than Hijab and certainly more than Niqaab. Its as if the meaning of the world has been reduced to just those few hairs growing on the heads of women. Its really pathetic and sad.

I see the problem is some people still believe they collect money really for Niqab!! it reminds me of the men who wear white and with long beard and small stamped receipt and microphone "donation for building a mosque" I never believed them even when I was a kid. Those people will increase and do more and more as long as we take them from that side. They are not even beggars they use this money to serve their policy which destroy the community later.
In my opinion there is only 1 way to put them in their real size. That others should work in politics and do join the legal and official political parties or at least they should care of politics.

The situation now is like there is a political team alone playing alone with no opponents. Sure they will win and they will control our lives as they like.

i never pay to people of this kind, dont know where the money goes , AND DONT ENCOURAGE NIQAAB. the niqaab is one of the characteristics of al salafiyeen , imported from saudia. it's cultural, not religious. women wearing it feel they have completed their faith, but in fact they have satisfied a cultural aspect in saudia, riyadh, specifically. im disgusted with the increase of this phenomenon among different groups, but esp z lower classes and some students , etc. it accompanies the phenomenon of men wearing a short galabiya , and a head cover like a veil, accompannied with a long rough beard. this is an invasion from riyadh. why? perhaps to entangle simple minded egyptians in matters, NOT RELIGIOUS but in imitation of external appearance of a particular group , al salafiyeen. im glad that ZAKZOUK, z minister of al awqaaf has issued an order that females guiding women in mosques shouldnt wear the niqaab. this is one step in the right direction. preachers on tv and in mosques should follow this policy that takes women back in time in a useless vague way.my advice : DONT PAY ANYTHING TO SUCH PERSONS.

Don't misunderstand me, I admire Egypt and it's history and culture, but I had no idea they still did that sort of thing....makes me want to vomit!

Asalam alaikum.....well, there are Soooo many problems to raise money for. This is in my opinion a noble project. But not the only thing that needs attention by any means. But each person or groups wants to raise money for their particular favorite cause. I see nothing wrong with that, dont donate if u dont wish......if u raise money for the shoeless, some will critisize and say what about the homless, then others will say what about the undeducated? sooo i guess all im saying as long as its for a decent cause, more power to them....salaams
