Thought is only part of the formula for knowledge.

this logic is flawed. its flawed because it leads to an over-simplified and faulty conclusion.

Consider the following:

John is an assh.ole.
John is a man
All men are assh.oles......Really????

Knowledge is power >>> yes Agree
Thought precedes knowledge >>> Possibly. In what way though?
Thus thought is the true power >>> I would say that thought should be the "origin" or "source" of power since it comes before knolwedge.

To say that thought is the "true power" implies that thought plays the role of "process" and "outcome". But i think the outcome is "knolwedge" which is a type of thought that has been "processed" in some way. Thus thought should be the raw material and knowledge, the finished product.

EDIT

"Did you ever notice that you can't think about anything which you don't know? This is the reason that, while explaining the unknown and unseen life hereafter, all the examples are brought from the things of which we have knowledge."

I am not sure if i can agree with this part. Its not that you "don't know" but maybe you haven't given a "name" to the thing that you are thinking about. Only perceptual experiences can come before thought. For example, you see a rose (perceptual experience) and you think about the rose (thought). Since you don't know its name you can only tell others about this object through descriptions of its characteristics (forming knowledge). This applies to learning english language as well. You see an english word, you can think about it but in order to know what it means you need a dictionary (the process of acquiring knowledge). Anyway the idea is that you don't need to have the knowledge of something in order to think about it. The brain is quick enough to process what you see without you even "thinking" or "knowing" what you are actually doing. Thus knowledge is never defined as something that exists on the basic sensory level. The formation of knowledge always involves a "process".

Also, "knowledge" is not the same as "knowing".

Knowledge generates thoughts in minds. Thoughts generate actions. Actions generate results which become our experience and help us in reaching facts, establishing opinions and taking decisions. Thus the basic thing is knowledge. That is why it is said '' knowledge is power.''
Human has superiority over all the creatures because he is given with the knowledge. Did you ever notice that you can't think about anything which you don't know? This is the reason that, while explaining the unknown and unseen life hereafter, all the examples are brought from the things of which we have knowledge.

True! But needs further explanation. What precedes the thought? Some desire or some inspiration--to know something in a subtle manner or do something physically. Therefore desire precedes thought, intellect guides it and intelligence channels it into physical action. Now we can see that 'power' relates to potential just as 'energy' relates to action. Hence Power exemplifies a Trio-- 1)Power of Desire, 2)Power of Knowledge and 3)Power of Action. Of this we note that the first two relate to the subtle consciousness of Mind while third relates to the physical states. In the physical world we always reckon with efficiencies relating to the subtle understandings and more importantly to the effective utilization of potential power as a ratios of input supply to useful output actions of physical systems. Finally seeing that the physical world is a 1/3'rd manifestation of powers vested in the 2/3'rd subtle world humanity should direct all endeavors spiritually, scientifically and by all virtuous means to gain calm, composure and coherence in attaining peace of human mind and bliss in the larger subtle existence and ultimately realize the Eternal Source of True Power instead of squandering that power entropied in the physical world inefficiently and thereby suffering perpetually.

It is true. The gift of reason (or thought, as you've termed it) is the means through which humans have been able to accrue knowledge.

Just like one's legs enable one to walk great distances.

It is a powerful thought!!

Thought is so powerful that just as it can create power, it can destroy it as well. There is a philosophical thought which claims that Thought is the origin of all as well as it is the end of it all.
