If you could take 1 book in to the bomb shelter with you, to read and protect for future generations, which book would it be? AND Why would you choose it?

Very good question. I wish I could give you 2 stars, but 1 will have to do.

I would take in Watership Down by Richard Adams, as it tells us all about working as a team, which will be very important to survivors. It also tells us about family, tactics and friendships which are more important than anything else.

It is a great book about survival even though it stars rabbits!

I'm hoping that if the bomb were dropped and the end of the world as we know it then I would hope the Bible was the first to go on the bonfire, along with the Torah and the Koran. it is all complete rubbish and just gives us excuses to feel superior and try to blow each other up. Somehow I don't think that's what the writers had in mind when they wrote these interesting pieces of fiction. but never mind.

I think I'd take the Complete works of Shakespeare book that I have, though would have to admit, if it were a choice between that and my family and cat, I have to admit, Shakespeare would have to go. blood before ink. x

Probably a Shakespeare collection. After all: all the world's a stage, and every time you re-read Shakespeare you discover something new.
One problem though, I wouldn't go into a bomb shelter. If it's really Armageddon then there would be no future.

The Lord of The Rings because it's a book that can be read many times and you find something new in it everytime.
It's engaging and powerful in it's narrative and I consider it a classic for all age groups, classes, its a story of good against evil and what's more important than that.

VERY good question! Wow! Really kick starting the old grey matter with this one....hm...

Probably GREY'S ANATOMY because the first thing we'll need to learn is medicine and everything therein. Unless there's a better medical book out there somewhere...?
