Passed my driving test in a new Honda Jazz could drive it perfectly, no problems. Have just bought a VW Golf (used) and took it for a test drive.... I was kanagrooing, over revving engine, problems with biting point... you'd have thought I'd never driven a car before it was that bad !!! Has anyone else had this problem....I mean got a different car and had problems getting used to it? Is this normal or is it just me? The guy at the garage then drove it...and he drove it fine no problem. My confidence has gone down the pan.

It is just a matter of time do not feel silly about it!
I have had 3 of the same model of car one after the other and they were different as chalk and cheese. Each clutch is different and you just need to get the feel of them!
Practice on a quiet road to get your confidence, you will be away before you know it!

Don't worry, every car is different to drive, it'll just take a couple of days to get used to it. I've just changed from a petrol to a diesel and I was absolutely terrible when i first drove it but i'm absolutely fine now. Also the man at the garage is used to driving so many different cars in a day so don't let that put you off. Just bear with it and good luck

I bought a car that felt loose to me and did not seem to go straight without intense concentration. It was not designed with a good viewing angle and came with very tinted windows. I wrecked it less than a week later. I have never been a good driver though. but I know what you mean. I have driven friends cars that I had a blast in with confidence (usually compact older cars), but Ive also driven cars that seemed idiotic in design that I could not handle.

Was it a standard? That's the only thing I can think of. And that a Golf's sportier than a Jazz. It prob has more power too.
