Money is the cause of unhappiness

2007-08-18 21:36:24 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 3

Money is the centre of the worlds problems, yes. BUT that's not because of the money itself, its because of the people who cannot use it wisely. Money tends to attract people of a greedy and selfish nature!
I laugh when adults try to tell me that money doesn't bring happiness. Of course it does!
There's children all around the world, dieing and suffering - concentrated in Africa. The reason? They don't have the money for *education, medical help, food, clean water, strong shelter!
As un-beautiful as things sound, no matter how much love you receive - you cannot survive without the above*
In-fact money is one of the few things today that brings a great amount of happiness.
As well as being the key to most problems these days, its also the key to living and surviving. Without money we cannot LIVE, without money there will still be problems!
Most of those who believe money doesn't bring happiness tend to contradict themselves - because they talk about donating to charity and not wasting food (which is paid for with .. money) and then say how money is irrelevant. Then why shall we not go and buy food and have a massive English food-fight every Friday? A new tradition. Exactly.
That's just my point, and as a 14 year old my explanation is probably not fully developed yet but I believe its more sensible than some adults these days.

Thank you ..
Take care ..

Money does NOT mean happiness.
I was married for a long time to a man who was rich. I had everything. Trips to Hawaii. A huge mansion like home. Swimming pool. Four cars. Expensive cars. Private schools for the kids. But my X husband had no soul. He was mean and distant. Just about every time he talks he tells a lie or
manipulates reality. I made the choice to leave him, I now struggle financially. I live in a small apartment and drive a very inexpensive car. I get health care from the state.

I have NO regrets leaving the money. I am far happier now.
It has been ten years and I still know that I did the right thing.

Money is NOT everything. Good health is the most important thing of all. Having money can help by giving you security and a less stressful life, but if you are a poor miserable so and so, having money you will just be a rich miserable so and so. You can spread happiness if you do GOOD things with your money, but the old saying "Money is the root of all evil"can be very true. More family breakups over money, such as fighting over Wills than anything else.

No money is neither everything nor happiness...

Money is a means of buying things.

Some things can help satisfy a current hunger and make you seem happy for a time, but it can't cure depression.

That is the key... the only thing that can cure depression is the mind being healed. Only the mind can be happy and if the mind isn't happy, all the money in the world can't "make it" happy. It takes time and healing.

g-day!

I was thinking about this in relation to the woman in Scotland who has just won £38 million. That is an obscene amount - more than I could psychologically - let alone practically - handle. There would be begging letters day in day out. There would be the danger of kidnapping - her face is all over the media. How could you still relate to your friends if money was no object? I would want to give some away to friends, family and charities - but how would you ever decide to whom and how much, and be able to remain fair? People might resent and hate you for it. If I could buy anything, have anything, then life would be so boring. There would be nothing to look forward to - nothing to achieve and so - for me - no satisfaction. You enjoy things so much more for having them every now and then - think about a holiday. Two weeks in the Bahamas (or whatever) is great and you really enjoy it because you contrast it to your working life. But to be there all the time...? I'd be so bored. Everyone would want to know you because of your money. How would you know who your genuine friends were any more? How would you get new friends or lovers?

OK - £38 m is extreme but it's worth thinking about. I look at my life and I can complain about not having enough money but I have my family, my friends, a roof over my head, food on the table and my health. I think money can stop you seeing what you have around you and appreciating those things. Having money will always make you want more because you will get used to a `better' lifestyle. So where is the satisfaction in always wanting/needing more?
It is not money that is the root of all evil, but `the love of money.' That makes sense to me. Look around you and enjoy what you have.

Why do people keep asking the same question even though the answer is clear, YES, money does buy happiness. And if you have money and you're still not happy, then you're one miserable person who DOESN'T appreciate what he/she has. Money isn't everything in life but it does buy a lot of things and makes the impossible possible.

Money does actually means happiness, but money is not everything. money can make you happy but on the condition that it is used well and for good purpose.
for example if instead of spending money on alcohol and smoking you help some poor and needy people then you will feel the peace and happiness you have never known.

Hi!

Money is tangible: happiness is not.

Money can buy u a lot of material things: happiness can give u spiritual comfort.

Money brings fame and insomnia: happiness brings smiles and peace in the arms of the one u love.

Yet the importance of money cannot be discounted...its up to us to decide what our need are, how much money we ned to satisfy them and then move on to other areas of our life which are equally imp.

Money can buy mansions but it cannot infuse melody into ur home;
It can but u the best bed in the hospital, but not the best caring

it can buy the most comfiest bed, but not sleep

like everything else money has its specific use....lets stay on track!
Cheers n Chin up:)

One of my cousins is very rich. She owns about 16 properties totalling almost £3million, mortgage free. She has other investments and lives in a huge mansion with her husband and 2 kids. I too, have 2 kids but that is where the similarity ends. I work full time, dont have money but am happy with my life and my family mean more to me than anything, my kids are happy at home and at school. My cousins kids see their parents once a week as they have a nanny, they are at boarding school and during the school hols, they are packed off to go camping or to stay with grandparents. I wouldn't change my life for theirs and although it would be difficult to live if either of us were off work, money doesnt mean happiness and it doesnt mean anything to me.

No money isn't everything, but the facts are life are these, that without it you cannot eat, pay rent, go out, have a life of any kind. So I would much rather have it than not, i have struggled financially for much of my life and know which I prefer. Ask the 800 million people in India, source, news recently, who live on less than a dollar a day.
