f(x+2) = f(x-2+4) = 4(x+4) - 5 = 4x+11

i would say:

f(x-2) = 4x -5 = 4(x-2) +3

hence f(x+2) = 4(x+2) + 3 = 4x +11

f(x+2) = 4(x+2)-5

f(x+2) = 4x+8-5 = 4x+3

Let u = x - 2 then x = u + 2

f(x - 2) = f(u) = 4(u + 2) - 5 = 4u + 3

Set u = x+ 2 then:

f(x+2) = 4(x + 2) + 3 = 4x + 11

O.O fun.

since f(x-2) = 4x-5,
Therefore the equation will be like,
f(x) = 4x + k, whereby k is a certain number.

f(x-2) = 4x -8 - k
= 4x - 5
Therefore,
4x - 5 = 4x - 8 - k.
k = -3

Therefore f(x) = 4x - 3

f(x-2) = 4(x-2) -3
= 4x -11

Solved.

:D

Hope this helps!

f(x-2)=4x - 5

Substitute x - 2 into x in the equation
f(x - 2) = 4 (x - 2) - 5
f(x - 2) = 4x - 8 - 5
f(x - 2) = 4x - 13
