I bought a laptop a while ago. If i replace the hard drive with a new one i bought online, what will be on the computer when i turn it on?

The computer is as good as a blank, every hardware is fine but OS need to be reinstalled except in the case that it was from a machine used to boot a Linux Live CD as hard disk image file.

Nothing. You'll probably have to reinstall everything, because all computer files such as OS are stored on the old HD.

Well, if the hard drive is blank, then it might ask you to partition it, format it etc...
You will need an OS

before that you should format it and install windows because I think it will be blank so there will be no data on it nor O.S
