Yes. Your vagina has an odor. Everyones does unless it is just covered up by perfumes, which is bad for you. It's a musky odor. Men are attracted to it. It can change depending on what part of your cycle you are on but it's always there. You should never attempt to clean the inside of your vagina. That can lead to all sorts of problems. Washing it once a day with a mild soap (whichc is infact not recommended by most ob/gyn's) is plenty. Any more than that can affect your natural balance. Any girl who says her vagina doesn't smell is lying!!

Firstly, Ive been told that you should never use soap as this does affect the natural pH and that can lead to thrush, not to mention just drying out the area! The vagina does have an odor and Id imagine it is mainly caused by sweat, apart from the fact that it disposes of urine, a waste product. So by the time you have pubic hair (to keep you nice and snugly warm), underpants / panties and then jeans or stockings, you have a few layers that trap heat. Add a bit of walking and it can get a bit hot and sweaty in the nether regions.
Naturally, even then, I dont find it to be offensive and believe that washing once a day is enough, but yes, you do need to be relatively thorough. I was quite surprised once as a young teenager to read in graphic detail just "how to clean the vagina"........ just like a man should pull back his foreskin to wash the area underneath, women too should push the clitoris out from under its hood and wash the area, simply using warm, not hot water.
I guess it can be a little uncomfortable for parents to advise their kids on the right way to maintain their personal hygiene!

Yep, all bodily functions come with an odor of some type. Humans are drawn to odor. Odor indicates health or illness... cleanliness or a clear lack of hygiene. After intercourse the female will have an exceptional odor. This is due to the mixing of fluids. Bathe. It will pass. Don't douche (this practice causes an environment for yeast infections).
Odor is fine. Pungent indicates an imbalance. Something that is not offending is a mark of wellness.
Make sure that you bathe regularly, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, and expel an equal amount of water as you take in. Don't ever become thirsty (this is a dehydration indicator).

A mild smell is normal and natural. Some people are offended by any bodily odours but the truth is, we all smell at some time to some extent. If it's not unbearably strong or nasty then it's fine. I smell down there slightly sometimes, and guys can as well. The hair can waft pheremones around I believe, and it can waft smell, but also shaving can cause more smell if it's a sweat problem, it all depends.
You can wash a bit inside if you want, just a little bit stick your finger up a little, especially after your period. Be careful that the soap is mild, you don't need to douche or anything people who say that are wrong, warm water is the main thing.

yes it has a natural odor....Some women's odor is stronger than others
Trimming the hair down there helps to keep the area clean....When I have a lot of hair down there my pee gets stuck to the hair...(yes, even when I wipe, yes, even with baby wipes too)
But dont shave off the hair completely, pubic hair does have a purpose and its to keep stuff out of the vagina.
If you ordor becomes really strong and smelly it may be a sign of an infection, then you should see a doc to make sure.
Dont put soap inside your vagina!! Water is just fine.

If there is an odor coming from the vagina it can indicate infection. I would recommend talking to your doctor as well for additional information.

I notice you revised your re-posted question. Helpful for answers. Hopefully this round will provide the information you are still in search of and enable you to ponder something a bit more "substantial" than genitalia odors.

Sometimes there is an odor but sometimes there is a sweetness. A good washing usually helps seperate the two.
