Probably not, unless they have plans where you pay for a dedicated IP.

ISPs use DHCP for assigning IPs, instead of static so they can have a pool of fewer IPs.

There are a number of web based services that will 'map' the dynamic IP Address (provided by your ISP) to a 'static' one (allocated by the service) ..

HOWEVER most ISP's have a 'No Servers' rule for private users ..

As a residential customer no. They may still have some commercial plans that would provision a static IP.

Hi,

You would be able to buy a static IP but it wont be cheap, as normally you are given any one they see fit when you log on, i enquired on this a few years ago with TeleWest, the helpful chap advised its not worth it andit was not cheap.

So basically you can but you will have to pay for it! in addition to your current costs.

Hope this helps.
