If it's gas cramps then mylicon drops are supposed to work well. There is also a pressure band out there that puts pressure on the abdomen and is supposed to relieve gas pain. Repositioning him on his side, then facing down, etc. might help move the air bubble, too.
When my son was a newborn I did what we called the "bicycle dance"--I took his legs and moved them in a cirular motion, like biking, until he tooted, sometimes, gently pushing his knees into his tummy. That usually helped him.

How do you know it's stomach cramps? What are the symptoms? Baby's cry for lots of things. If the baby poops then they are not having stomach cramps. However, if they don't poop but still drink milk then they could be constipated. Go see a doctor. Pedialite is for a runny noses and head colds. Try emptying the bottle and refilling it with fresh milk, make sure the milk is at a good temperature, not to hot not too cold. Give the baby some water, then milk. The baby must drink milk. Email me, I have a 3 yr old toddler and 1 1/2 yr old infant.

Hi, Well first of all if since he/she is a newborn..your options as far as home remedies..and juices..ect..are out of the question..I would try to figure out why a newborn has cramps in the first place..(very rare)..If it's poopie cramps this is normal adjustment to living outside the womb..there lil bodies are just getting used to formula or breast milk. You might want to massage tummy..or give baby a warm bath. If it looks like baby can't handle it I would schedule an appointment with your pediatrician.

You can try burping more frequently after feeding.

You can also try Mylicon or gripe water (available at health food stores).

Wrap your newborn in a blankets very snuggly against his or her tummy.

Roll his or her legs up to her tummy to help release the gas.

Hope that helps.

For my little one the best thing I've found is wrapping a thin blanket tightly (not too tight of coarse) around him putting it right under his arms and its like the pressure helps some how, don;t know how but it did for me.
