Hi,

A teacher in my school recently mentioned that she has been mentioned in the America's Who's Who in Education. I'm not sure what this award is about or what it entails.

Anyone know anything about it-like how you get nominated or win it, or what it's for?

Thanks,

George

It really isn't an award. The company sends out applications to faculty inviting them to apply. A few months later you hear that you have been included in the next edition, and you can buy copies of it for however much money. I get the feeling that they would include just about anyone who is a tenured faculty member at a recognized school. To me the one which was more meaningful was Who's Who Among American Teachers, or something like that. What made it special was that you had to be nominated by someone who had been included in Who's Who Among America's Best Students, who were each allowed to nominate one person, so when a couple of my students in a row gave them my name, I was honored more than when some commercial enterprise judged me acceptable.
