Good lord, no. What about crime rates or the Dow makes you think the government was working for the people?

The only thing good about the 90s was the fact that neither congress or the president could get much done. The government shutdown was the best thing that ever happened to the country.

When did the government do anything except cover its own behind and increase its power over the people .

Not once have I ever seen this government take a step back and give anyone a single thing that it did not force other people to pay for .

Are you not sick and tired of all the bull crap we get fed by politicians year after year and election after election that promises change and still not once have we gotten anything that from day one we should not have .

What they gave in on slavery and had 100 more years of segregation which they gave in on so we created a welfare state and affirmative action .

We gave women the right to vote .

Just what the heck is it our government has done for any of us that 10 smart sane individuals could not have done in a few weeks .

Seems what government did was set it self up to compete with religion and morality and if thats all we have left to do in this nation then you can call me the next sniper who is going to get his name plastered all over the pages of the paper and have a few hours of television coverage before he checks out .

I am sick and completely fed up with how things are done anymore and will surely force people to think before they walk out the front door .

The government will spend 30 million to capture me before it hands out one free lunch to some kid whose parents just happen to make $3.00 a year more then what is allowed under the rules for them to qualify for the hot school lunch program .

The entire system is bent on controlling people who in general have been beat down for a long time .

When will it change and when will it end .
.

No, the 90s was when Clinton signed NAFTA. That has led to a huge migration of businesses out of the country and really exacerbated the rich and poor divide. With the tax hikes at the time that was when it became the norm for people to hold more than one job to make ends meet. The surplus that people like to talk up did happen, but people seem to forget that the government started arguing over how to increase spending with it rather than cut the deficit or pay down the debt.

The numbers might have gone up at that time, but it was paid for by loss of time off as well as loss of vacation topped off by loss of jobs in a lot of industries when the stupid service economy was made.
