I know nothing about gardening or your problem so im unsure why Im attempting to answer but no one responded to you yet so Ill give it a try. I think if your worried about it endangering your child then you should put it outside or get rid of it. Its not worth your childs safety. But I wouldnt over worry, worst case scenario is that you have to get rid of the plant. My other thought is if the bugs are a bad thing to replant the plant with new soil. Unsure if that will remove all the bugs though. well those are my thoughts hopefully someone can help you out that has the knowledge to ease your worries.
