Shradel I: For a newbie (assuming your level 1 status), you are very confident telling me to learn to spell considering I have been on P&S for a long time now.
I am a VERY good speller. Typos - I DO make sometimes. But I DO NOT misspell words.
Anyway - you never answered the question, so...how smart are you? Read the guidelines lately?

This question was a play on words.
I DID mean "ablution". But I was anticipating people would likely assume I meant "abortion" and not bother to look up the word and then see what type of responses I would get.

Thanks for being good sports that some of you showed. No criticism on anyone. Just an observation of Y!A users psyche..

Thanks for all the answers.

Ablution or Abortion?
Ablution - noun
the ritual washing of a priest's hands or of sacred vessels

Abortion –noun
Also called voluntary abortion. the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy.

I'm going to assume you mean abortion - that is a really tricky question, I don't know whether legally they should have to tell their parents but I would like to think that they would tell them because deciding to have an abortion is a very very very big deal. You can't reverse it. You need to be absolutely sure that it is the right thing for you and the baby before you go ahead with it. I would think that as a teenager, you would need as much support as you could get and your parents could help you.

does the other responder think you meant 'abortion'?
i hope you mean ablution as in the definition refering 'to the practice of removing sins or diseases through the use of ritual washing, or the practice of using ritual washing as one part of a ceremony to remove sin or disease. '
i believe, this is my opinion, that a teenager should decide. of course no matter what, the parents will probably still have influence in the decision.

i assumed you were talking about the religious rite of ablution and not just cleaning because then, why wouldnt both the parents and the teenager agree that he or she would want to be clean.. duh?! i dont know..
and in truth im not even familiar with ablution really, so its all my opinions..

If they're old enough to have sex, they're old enough to choose to give birth or not.

What if the parents wanted her to have the child, and she didn't? It would ruin her life - social, school, her future.

What if the parents made her get an abortion, and she wanted the child? She'd be traumatized by having her baby taken away from her.

Either way, it's cause for the girl to hate the parents, or to blame them for her suffering. "If you let me keep/get rid of the baby, I wouldn't be suffering so much right now!"

If the teenager chooses, she has only herself to blame, and no one to accuse. So she will be able to accurately deal with the emotional stress.

Abortion, a bad, horrible choice, It is the same as murder, murder means to kill someone, well thats just what abortion is, but to kill a child, a creature that you and someone made is just evil, and they cannot help that you were too dumb not to take birth control or have the sense to wear a condom! I want you to look at yourselves and everything you have and think ''Hey if my parents would have chose abortion, the hand I am typing with would not exist'', It should be the choice of the parent.

Are you talking about evolution or abortion? Because either way, those are two things that the teenagers should be able to decide for themselves.

Personal choice.

But only because this is such a slippery slope.

I'm assuming you mean abortion so....

It's their choice if they want to give birth or not.

Get it through your head, people, it isn't murder, because it's not alive. I'm so sick of reading all this crap on this website about people who refuse to open they're eyes.

The parents have no right to step in and decide for their child, they don't know what their child is going through. It's sick and twisted that parent's get away with it, though. >:(
