Right now I would have to give it to Alex Rodriguez. Not only does he have the numbers, but he's one of biggest reasons why the Yankees have been able to get back into the playoff race.

Magglio will be a close second.

2 horse race in the AL, A-Rod vs Maggs.

Let's wait til the end of Sept and see where they are.

What I can't stand is when peeps say A-Rod, full stop.

Maggs is having a great season and is a legit candidate for AL MVP.

The MVP race is not 100% numbers, numbers, numbers. Remember Maggs hits in Comerica, prob the toughest AL ballpark.

If A-Rod wins that is cool, but he's not the only guy in the frame!

Given his dominant numbers, the BBWA will give it to A-Rod, whether or not the Yankees go anywhere. A-Rod has won it a couple of times before and his numbers are even more overwhelming than in those years.

If Detroit makes the playoffs it will be Magglio Ordonez and I guarantee that. He is obviuosly more valuable to his team then AROD and has gotten clutch hit after chutch hit all season. AROD's .250 since the All Star break does'nt help him either. Now if they don't make the playoffs and the Yanks do then that may change things. But I still say Magglio will be MVP.
