I would take the Excalibur on basis of better room quality. Harrah's rooms are nothing special at all. The Excalibur offers the same room or slightly better for a better price. There are clusters of hotels and resorts in either spot. By the way, it is FAR easier to get out of the Excalibur if you have a vehicle to drive. It's darn near crazy at times around the Center Strip.

I have only stayed at the Excalibur, but Harrahs is pretty much in the center of the strip. Therefore, walking or taking a cab one way or the other wouldn't be that bad. The Excalibur is at the far south side of the strip. So say you want to visit the Bellagio for the water display, it will be a hefty walk. But it is your decision. Also, I would check into that rate, I just stayed at the Excalibur a few weeks ago for $29 per night.....

If you have kids under 12 with you, then by all means go with Excalibur. It's a great place for kids.
Don't get me wrong Excalibur is alright and their new pool area which is supposed to open 10/1 is going to add a lot to the property, but, Harrah's is a much nicer resort for adults.

Did you check the rate for Luxor? IMO it's much nicer than either.

I'd choose Harrah's fo two reasons. First, as others have mentioned, location. It's more towad the center of the strip.
Second, Excalibur has TOO MANY KIDS! I don't go to Las Vegas to be surrounded by kids.

For the price, go with Excalibur. Frankly, how much time to plan to spend in your room? Secondly, I have had a couple bad experiences with Harrah's properties. If you're not dropping rolls of cash, you're a second class citizen. Excalibur is geared to the everyday Joe.

Excalibur.I'm going there monday august 20th.They have shows like mideval nights,thunder from down under (yummy naked guys),a whole kids arcade.A great buffet (ice cream even open in the am!)
