for the sellers.what are disadvantages?

Sellers who add a BUY IT NOW option to their auctions are hoping to snag an impulse buyer. Usually the Buy It Now price is at least 20% more than the opening price--but it can swing down to just a few cents more (so that you don't wait for the auction to end) to MUCH more... (Which makes no sense because once there's a bid, the BIN price disappears.)

Disadvantage for sellers is if they haven'r researched what they are selling and their BUY IT NOW price is LOW...giving someone a chance to grab it and re-sell it.

So ALWAYS check to see what "like items" have sold for and how many bidders got it to that price. Then you could set your BIN price accordingly.

I've noticed that the sellers who do well with the BIN option have that option on EVERY auction they have and over half their auctions end with someone using that option.

It depends on what you are selling and how many other people are selling the same thing. I've been on eBay for 7 years and STILL can't figure it out!

Best of Luck!

you sell for a fix price... either you get what you want or you dont... would be great if you at the lowest price in a group of others like your product... but bad if you dont ... selling without buy now you can get bids maybe same product but also might lose out on price.. reser price is ok if you dont go over board with shipping or you price to start.... its all a big game to see who sells... when im selling i try and do some checking for same product and see what others are getting and hope i can under them with mind sure you might get less but selling is more important long has you get over your cost you know... i dont use it think its more for the big people ones with a lot of the same or store folks
