Atticus-I like this, its a very mature and strong sounding name. Plus, its a character in a good piece of literature, To Kill a Mockingbird.
Kingston-I like the way it sounds. Very important sounding.
Phinneaus-Its a very bourgeois sounding name. I really don't like it.
Finnley-Nice but would probably be better as a middle name.
Merrit-Its a cute name, great for when he's an adult but might encounter some teasing as a child, however, it may be worth the risk because it is a good name.
Merrick-I like the version above better.
Archer-Definately not something I would use but if you like it go for it.
Talon-I'm seeing this more and more. I think its sound is kind of iffy but the name fits some people perfectly so you never know your kid could be one of those people.
Well, I think these names definately meet the criteria you stated. My favorites Merrit, Kingston and Atticus.

Sorry-I don't care for any of them. Talon sounds like an eagle's claw, Atticus and Phinneaus sound like a king, Archer sounds like an archer. I am not trying to be mean, but what about something a little more common? I mean, would your husband really want to be named Finnley? Try asking him.

Phinnaeus, Finnley, Merrick are good first names.
Atticus, Kingston, Merritt, and Archer are good middle names.
But Talon makes me think of mean birds. Sorry! :)

Atticus- Sounds like meat
Kingston- Because it is Gwen and Gavin's baby, it has too much of a pop culture air
Phinneaus- Rocks I love Phin
Finnley- Again, the name Fin is fabulous
Merrit- Is a cigarette brand name, negative conotation
Merrick- Is unique and strong
Archer-It reminds me of Archery at summer camp, but could be cool
Talon- That is one of those annoying kids from Laguna Beach, not cool

What about Liam, Pierce, Lachlan or Sebastian?

My sister's friend's brother is named Talon. He's never been made fun of or anything and I think it's a way cool name. DO NOT NAME YOUR KID PHINNEAUS OR FINNELY! He will be teased all through school. Atticus is also a way cool name.

I think all of the names you have chosen are strong, valiant sounding names. I particularly like the literary reference of Atticus to a wonderfully strong character (good role model).

I also thought that Hawthorne, and if you like the unusual paired with strength, how about Leviathan? (I believe it is Greek, referring to the strength of a crocodile).
