The most important element in a relationship, wether it be friendship, or loving, or whatever... is TRUST. Without trust, you are not a worthy person. What good is having a girlfriend you can't trust? What good is having a friend you can't trust? How can you rely on this person to tell you the truth about anything? How can you rely on this person to hold sacred your inner-most secrets, your thoughts, your vulnerablity? Can you trust their smile? Can you trust their facial expressions? Can you trust their words? And if so, when? All the time? Some of the time? When? How will you know when they are sincere? Or, "IF" they are sincere. Do you want to stay with this kind of person? What is their worth if you can't trust them? If someone close to you is capable of "betraying" your trust, love and loyalty... then they don't deserve you. Nothing is more valuable than trust. And if you are lucky enough to find a true friend you can trust...treasure that person, they are hard to find. If you are lucky enough to find someone to love, who is true, and you can trust...treasure that person, they also are hard to find. That's my answer to you.

"Just remember, all great relationships began as a one night stand."

In other words trust only becomes necessary when you become serious about a relationship. You can have relationships without being serious and trust never becomes an issue. On the other hand, you can decide this is the one for me and that is when trust has to be there to keep your loves from dying because you are not certain if he/she is telling you the truth anymore. Here is a clue, you never know for certain if he/she is telling you the truth. That is why trust becomes more important the longer and more serious the relationship becomes.

But the trust I am talking about is your trust of him or her and not her/his trust of you. Again, you can never be certain of the truth there.

You can walk away if you want to or take a leap of faith. It is up to you.

I would say so...especially if the other person isn't trying to learn to trust you. I was always told that if there isn't any trust in the relationship then you don't have anything at all. You shouldn't be with someone that doesn't trust you and is constantly accusing you of doing something that you're not doing. The relationship will eventually get worse and end up ending anyway.
