I think you mean copyright. Patents are for inventions. A copyright will protect your property from being used but the risk is up to you. If you are sending enough that you think someone could use the idea then yes you might want to protect it. If is just enough for them to get an idea of style and your writing ability it should not be necessary. If they request the full script then yes definitely protect your interests.
