Very bad car for a beginner 16 yr old male driver. He'll either crash it big time, or get so many tickets he'll have to sell the car to pay for his license and insurance.

It's a beautiful car, I'd love to have one. But for a new driver it's just too much power and too much speed. Until he's got some experience behind him to know how to handle it, he'll just get himself hurt.

Hope that helps.

cool car.. yes... love em actually

but few things... first off its rear wheel drive which might become a problem in snow (and burnouts are a strong temptation)... winter tires help tremednously in the snow...
they make them with 6 and 8 cylinder engines but the smaller engine is a little underpowered and the bigger engine means huge potential for getting in trouble or getting hurt...
reliability wise not the best but not the worst...

in my opinion let him buy his own $500 beater car that he can trash and get some driving experience on... an overwhelming majority of teenagers will get in some sort of accident or other trouble within the first year or so of getting their license... just something to keep in mind...

Well i personally started driving at 16 like your son and my dad got me a nissan 350z as my first car. Two words...BIG MISTAKE!!! Even though i promised him i would drive safe and not speed all that became very hard for me having a sports car and being so young. After a month of having it i totaled it completly, i just got it back and even though i made a promise to myself not to race anymore i still do it from time to time. I'll give you some advice and hopefully you'll listen to it....the car your about to give to your son is a VERY fast car and as soon as he realizes that his gonna get into a lot of trouble. Think twice before giving him that car. Good Luck.

I think you are asking for trouble. I don't know your son, but I have been a kid and have dealt with them. If you give them a hot rod, then they will run it. That is a lot of car for a 16 yr old kid. Couldn't you start him off with something a little less powerful and let him get some experience first.

It is a nice car, but a little overkill. How about something with less cylinders and less HP. (and cheaper insurance)

Can I call you Dad?
Hell yeah that's a great car, for me.
But honestly, you don't want to give a teenager a sports car.
Get him a two seater, it keeps your child from being the neighborhood taxi, and go with something that you expect him to trash inside and out. Like a small pick up truck or jeep.

It all depends on his maturity. Hell I know alot of people in there 30's and drive like idiots. The car itself is good but gas wise, he will be broke or you will be broke. Just keep reminding him that driving is a privilege and not a right.

Beautiful car, but not for a sixteen year old.

This has to be a joke, no parent in their right mind would give a 16 year old such a beautiful car.

A Firebird?? In "Arrest Me Red"?? Surely you're kidding, right?? Why don't you just buy him a gun and let him shoot himself; either way, you're asking for trouble?!!? Thanks, Dad..but, if you truly love him, get him a Honda, Toyota, or even a KIA - but, PLEASE...Not the Firebird!!! Good luck!

P.S. I love Firebirds and Camaros, but NOT for a sixteen year old new driver; the temptation is too great to drive recklessly, speed and engage in clandestine speed contests. No, don't do it ....
