= (x) (x + 2) + (x + 2)
= (x + 2)(x + 1)
OR
x² + 2x + x + 2
x² + 3x + 2

x(x + 2) + (x + 2)
x(x + 2) + 1(x + 2)
(x + 1)(x + 2)

Not quite.

Look at it this way:
x(x + 2) + (x + 2)
= x(x +2) + 1(x +2)
= (x + 2)(x + 1)

look at me!!! this is the correct and easy way to do it! just follow step by step:

x(x+2) + (x+2) the goal is to "factorise" but first:

step1: multiply x(x+2) = x^2+2x!

step2: now u have x^2+2x+x+2 as u can see i got rid of all the parenthesis which is the main thing u always do first in any equation (PEMDAS) rule.

step3: now u can combine like terms! add the 2x plus x!

step4: now u have a x^2+3x+2, this is a trinomial, son now u can find the 2 factors of this equation but how do u find them?
[tip: what numbers multiplied together give u "+2" but when u subtract or add them they give u "+3"?
1 and 2!
now u would write is like this:
(x+1)(x+2) ,these are the factors of x^2+3x+2!!

[to double check your answer, just use the FOIL(first, outer, inner, last) method for (x+1)(x+2) to verify your answer.in other words, multiply!! x(x)=x^2, x(2)=2x, 1(x)=x, 1(2)=2 which gives u the original equation x^2+2x+x+2!]

the correct factors are (x+1)(x+2)!!!

hope this helped:)

x(x + 2) + (x + 2)
= x^2 + 2x + x + 2
= x^2 + 3x + 2
= ( x + 2) (x + 1)
x + 2 = 0 or x + 1 = 0
x = -2 or x = -1

First distribute the x to get

x^2 +2x + (x + 2)

combine like terms

x^2 + 3x +2

Factor

(x+2)(x+1)

x(x+2)+(x+2) can be rewritten as x(x+2)+1(x+2)
In the above, (x+2) is common in both the terms. So take it out.
(x+2)[x+1] Hence the answer

firstly
(x^2+2x)+(x+2)
then open up de brackets
x^2+2x+x+2
u have
x^2+3x+2
and
x=-1 or-2
