running 2 nvidia geforce 8800 gts 320mb gddr3 cards in sli or 1 geforce 8800 gtx 768mb gddr3 alone?

i have 2gigs of ddr2 667 but i have 2 more gigs of the same on hand

Referring to Tom's Hardware VGA charts, the GTS in SLI even beats or matches the 8800 Ultra in Oblivion and other games.

Answering the question: I think that the 2 cards in sli would be better. Generally, using 2 of the same cards in Scalable Link Interface compared to 1 of those cards gives you anywhere from 80% to 100% better performance. So, basically, the question becomes: Is the GF8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 twice as effective as the GF8800GTS 320MB GDDR3? I honestly don't know too much about the specifics of each card, but I am simply guessing it's not.

the GTS's in SLI would appear to be better. Well, it was in November 2006.

It depends how much RAM you have and what motherboard you have. Also, it depends on how many monitors you have because in SLI mode, you can only use one.
