Obviously, there are two main choices: Ty Cobb and Al Kaline. The thing is, define best: most talented or best complete baseball player. Most talented is Ty Cobb, best complete baseball player is Al Kaline.

Al Kaline - my favorite

Ty Cobb is considered the BEST baseball player of all time.

But in my heart I would say Al Kaline, as I actually saw him play in his prime. PLus the man has class and style; and is currently a Special Assistant to David Dombrowski and has a positive powerful say in the day to day operations of The Detroit Tiger Baseball Club.

Ty Cobb the best.
Al Kaline the favorite.
There's a difference between best and favorite.

But someone could pick a player like Hank Greenberg and who could argue. He spent part of his career in World War II.

It's a close one between Kaline and Cobb. I'm going with the Georgia Peach though. Tyrus Raymond Cobb

Ty Cobb.

But there are some pretty good ones lined up behind him -- Greenberg, Kaline, Heilmann, Kell, Gehringer, Kuenn. Trammell and Whitaker. Not a huge amount of great pitchers, but there's Newhouser, Morris, and McLain was unstoppable for a few seasons.

Denny McClain and Mickey Lolich were their best pitcher.

Had to say something else besides Cobb and Kaline.
