Are MSN messenger and Windows Messenger the same thing?

Yes they are, and are both archaic. Windows Live Messenger is the newest version. You can upgrade it by clicking on tools and go to update windows.

No, they are two different programs, but they are compatible for communication.

I have both & no they aren't the same program.
