I've looked at different brands of front loaders and saw that Consumer Reports has LG at #1...so I'd like opinions from people who have them and how do they work. Any problems? My old washer is ready to go and I need to get a replacement before that happens. i want one that saves me water and energy. Does anyone know how much water they use for a normal load? I've always had a top loader so this will be a first for me! Thanks everyone.......

Last December I bought an LG Tromm series. The washer was only about $800, and I got an energy star rebate. I believe they said it only uses about 15 gallons per load of water. ( I have heard a top loader will be at least twice that water amount!) As for the detergent you would use "he" detergent, but can get a bottle of "all" for about $4.00 and it will do at least 30 loads of laundry! ( I've saved just in detergent). Good Luck!

I got my Kenmore Elite HE4T about a year ago. Front loaders clean better without damaging the fabrics like top loaders do. They use 1/3-1/2 the amount of water than a top loader as well which also saves you money as you only use 1/2-1/3 the amount of detergeant that you do for a top loader. I have also noticed that stains come out easier the first time through rather than having to run it through 4 or five times which saves still more money.

We just purchased the LG front loading washer and dryer in Feb. 2007. (Wild Cherry color) I give them both 10 stars.. They were expensive, but well worth every penny. Not only are they both awesome looking, they get my clothes cleaner than my last pair. We also used our rebates, because they are energy star efficient appliances. Our water bill has decreased about $20 a month too. One thing to keep in mind though, you will have to buy HE detergent, which is about $12 for HE Tide detergent 100 FL OZ. I have had no problems, and for the first year, your covered in the warranty. I highly recommend them.

i have a neptune..have had it almost a year..i got the dryer as well..love them but i am darn glad i got the extended warranties on both of them because six months into it a quarter was in a pair of pants and slipped into the rubber seal on the washer door and ripped a huge hole..would have set me back 400 bucks..and a week later one of the paddles in the dryer that keep the clothes mixing...broke..how or why noone knows..but they do save water..i have noticed my water bill is down about ten bucks a month..energy i am not sure because we have had extreme heat this summer and extreme cold this past winter and have had some really huge electric bills..the house doesnt vibrate when the load isnt balanced either and they sure are a heck of a lot quieter

Some folks love a front loader, but I would NEVER buy one. First .. they leak... second... if you forget something you cannot open it and add. If you want to take something out, you can't. Bottom line, when it starts, it must complete the cycle before you can do anything. Top loaders are much better.
