My Grandad gave all of his grandchildren nicknames, and because I loved playing in the red dirt of East Texas mine was "Filth Pot"
A couple of the others were Seagul/ because of her skinny legs and Pistol Pete/ because he was a hand full.

My ex called me twerp since I'm 5' short. That's the only nickname I've had.
But I'm big on giving people nicknames. They're always nice ones and it's fun and done with love.

Every time I did something klutzy or flaky, my husband would call me Gracie (referring to the Burns and Allen show), and it just kind of stuck. ('Course I have a nickname for him, too, but I'd probably be booted off Y/A if I were to say it!) My mother also had a nickname for me that she only used when she wrote me letters...a different version of my real name...and it was just something special that the two of us shared.

My Dad called me "Tuffy" because I part tomboy and part resiliency like a rubber band I could snap back from change and adversity.

My maternal grandfather called me "Snookie" - why I don't know. lol

My paternal grandmother called me Jamsy - made out of my initials....that side of the family was big on nics - I had cousins named Flappy ['cause he flapped about in the womb! lol]; Tweedle, his sister - and Fig

My former hubby called me Puddin'

and my friends of my years living in Europe call me Gigi - a name I picked up while studying ballet in a 'farm troupe' of the Paris Opera Ballet.

My father called me "Yonnaman". That's phonetic and it roughly means Johnnie in Norwegian. Classmates called me "Big John" in high school. But, I earned one nickname by serving eight years of my Navy career with the Fleet Marine Forces. That name is still near and dear to me: "Doc".

My boyfriend chooses very unflattering nicknames for me. Like toshiba-head, big-head, turkey burger, etc. He takes things I like a lot and calls me by that name. The big-head nickname is basically just an affectionate insult.

But mostly he just calls me Sweetie : )

Steely. In hot rodding steelies refers to steel wheels, which I have always preferred over alloys, mags, aluminum etc. Because my name is Dan, I often have to explain that I really like Mick and the boys more.

Well, when I was a kid, it was "Fatty-Fatty Two by Four."

The most recent one, though, was when my first grandchild was a preschooler. I called her "Squirt," and she started calling me "Big Squirt."

(She later called me "Work Grandma," and my husband HATED it. He said it made me sound like a drudge, which I was. I worked two jobs at that time, and the only time this child saw me was when she and her mom visited me at work!)
